Right on target when advertising becomes part of the mobile game

Advertising that doesn't disrupt the gaming experience. Flarie builds brands into mobile games in a way that makes players choose to stay – and together with Clearon, that engagement is turned into real offers.

Challenges

Reach a target group used to ignoring traditional advertising

Create advertising that doesn't disrupt or interrupt the user experience

Turn playing time into actual in-store offers

Prove the effect compared with classic digital advertising

Goal

Capture users' attention for longer than traditional advertising

Build brands seamlessly into the gaming experience

Link game participation to concrete offers

Continue the long-term partnership with Clearon

Strategy

Advertising built into the game

"We develop an app with branded mobile games in which the brand is built into the game with attractive graphics," says Filip Tröger, founder and CEO of Flarie. "Unlike other mobile games, our games aren't interrupted by ads and users don't have to pay."

Solution

Minutes instead of seconds

"The average time spent looking at a Facebook ad is 1.7 seconds, but in a mobile game you might get 5–10 minutes," notes Filip. A study from Umeå University shows that this type of marketing is 15 times more effective than classic advertising.

A partnership since the start

"We've worked with Clearon ever since Flarie started in 2016 and have always been satisfied," says Filip.

One million users, 200–300 products

The Flarie app now has around one million users in Sweden, more than 50,000 of whom play daily. The Flarie shop has between 200 and 300 products, where players' engagement is turned into real offers – clear proof of how game-based marketing can create both attention and concrete value.

3 success factors

1
Advertising that doesn't disrupt

By building brands into the game rather than interrupting it, the experience becomes positive rather than irritating for the user.

2
Significantly longer attention

Five to ten minutes of playing time gives considerably more brand exposure than a traditional ad lasting a few seconds.

3
A long-term partnership

The partnership between Flarie and Clearon since 2016 has made it possible to link game engagement to actual in-store offers.
